You can create a connection using the L2TP protocol manually using the following instructions:
To add a necessary registry setting:
1. Press the Windows Key and R at the same time to bring up the Run box.
2. Type in: regedit and click OK. Click Yes if asked if you'd like to allow the app to make changes to your PC.
3. In the left pane, locate and click the folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PolicyAgent
4. Click the Edit menu and hover your cursor over New. Click DWORD Value. A new registry will appear in the right pane, named New Value #1.
5. Rename that file: AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule (this is case-sensitive and contains no spaces) and press ENTER.
6. Right-click AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule, then click Modify.
7. In the Value data box, type 2, and click OK.
8. Reboot the computer.
To configure the L2TP/IPsec connection:
1. Click on the Start menu.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click Network & Internet from the Settings menu.
4. Select VPN from the left side of the window.
5. Click Add a VPN connection.
6. Fill out the settings listed in the box below.
VPN provider: Windows (built-in) Connection Name: VyprVPN Server name or address: See server list here VPN type: L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared key
Pre-shared key: thisisourkey Type of sign-in info: User name and password User name (optional): Your Giganews GN number or custom username Password (optional): Your Giganews password Remember my sign-in info: Checked
7. Click Save.
8. You will now see the connection in the Network & Internet window.
9. Click Network and Sharing Center under Related settings.
10. In the Network and Sharing Center, click Change adapter settings on the left side of the window.
11. Right-click on VyprVPN and choose Properties.
12. Navigate to the Security tab and for Data encryption select: Maximum strength encryption (disconnect if server declines). Click OK.
13. Close the Network and Sharing Center window and you will find yourself back in the VPN section of Network and Internet.
How to Connect:
1. Click on the Start menu.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Network & Internet from the Settings menu.
4. Select VPN from the left side of the window.
5. Click on VyprVPN and then click the Connect button.
6. You are now connected to VyprVPN! Click Disconnect from this screen at any time to disconnect from the service.
7. You can check your IP here.
