yEnc is an encoding method used to increase efficiency in the overhead of Usenet posts. Before yEnc, encoding binary posts added significant overhead, increasing data amounts by as much as 40%. yEnc is far more efficient, with an overhead as little as 1-2%. Most news clients natively decode yEnc encoded Usenet posts.
If your news client does not support yEnc encoding, read the "What can I do if my client doesn't support yEnc encoding?" section of our FAQ.
